Overview
For learners to understand that First Aid is the responsibility of everyone in the working environment. Its topics are regarded by the Health and Safety Executive as being important to maintaining good practice and the safe, prompt and effective treatment of ill health in the work place.
Who Should Attend
The award in First Aid at Work is aimed at those who wish to become a First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981.
Objective
To gain basic lifesaving First Aid and understand the relevant regulations.
Areas Covered
Topics covered include: the roles and responsibilities of the First Aider; assessing an incident, recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness, assisting a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness, chest injuries, spinal injuries and anaphylaxis. This course now also covers the use of AED.

How is the Course Assessed
A 12 question multiple choice written paper
A practical assessment
On Completion
Successful candidates will receive a Highfield accredited A4 certificate and plastic wallet sized card detailing their qualification.
N.B. First Aid at Work Certificates are valid for 3 years. They must then be renewed by taking the 2 day First Aid at Work Refresher training.
Candidates have 28 days after their expiry date to renew their certificate. After this time has lapsed the full training must be taken again.
